Traffic Alert from Downtown Indy, Inc.

CONSTRUCTION NOTE

All lanes are closed on I-65 southbound from the South Split to I-465. The closure will reopen on Monday, July 22 by 6 a.m.

INDOT will close all lanes of I-70 eastbound and westbound from I-465 to the South Split on July 26 at 9 p.m. The closure will last nine days and all lanes will reopen on Monday, Aug. 5 by 6 a.m.

 

Thursday, July 18

RUN (317) Mass Ave will cause numerous, partial closures from 7 – 9 p.m. This run will begin and end on the 800 block of Massachusetts Avenue.

Indyfluence will close the west block of Georgia Street from Capitol Avenue to Illinois Street from 12 – 6:30 p.m. The south lane of Georgia Street will also be closed between Illinois and Meridian streets from 2:30 – 6 p.m.  

Young Democrats of America Convention will close the south lane of Georgia Street between Meridian and Pennsylvania streets from 7 – 11 p.m.

 

Friday, July 19

Downtown Indy, Inc.’s Food Truck Fridays driven by ChooseYourChevy.com will take place on the west block of Georgia Street. As a result, the south lane will be closed 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  

The SouthEast Quadrant of Monument Circle will be closed from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. for the American Dairy Association Ice Cream Social.

The Oberun 5K run/walk will cause multiple partial closures from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

North and St. Clair streets will be closed between Meridian and Pennsylvania streets from 7 a.m. Friday - 3 a.m. Saturday for Indiana BlackExpo Summer Celebration Music Heritage Festival I, held on the American Legion Mall. Additional streets closed include:    

Meridian Street between St. Clair and Michigan streets and Pennsylvania Street between St. Clair and Michigan streets from 6 p.m. – 3 a.m.   

Ft Wayne Street at Pennsylvania Street from 6 – 7 a.m.

Walnut Street at both Pennsylvania and Meridian streets.

 

Special Events

Indiana Fever games may cause increased traffic around Bankers Life Fieldhouse Friday. Indianapolis Indians games may also cause increased traffic around Victory Field Monday – Sunday. An Indy Eleven game on Saturday may cause increased traffic around Lucas Oil Stadium.

 

Red Line Construction

Capitol Avenue: Pavement markings are being installed on Capitol Avenue. Temporary lane restrictions and temporary traffic controls will be required around work areas. Work will occur mostly during the evening and overnight hours.

Meridian Street: Meridian Street is being re-paved. Temporary lane restrictions and temporary traffic controls will be required around work areas.

Virginia Avenue & Shelby Street: Construction of the station structures is continuing.

Washington Street: Pavement marketing are being placed between Delaware Street and Capitol Avenue. There will be temporary lane restrictions.

Illinois Street: Bike lanes are being painted on Illinois Street between Washington and 18th streets. Work will occur mostly during the evening and overnight hours.

Delaware & Maryland streets: Pavement markings will be placed on Delaware Street between Maryland and Washington streets, as well as on Maryland Street between Delaware Street and Capitol Avenue. There will be temporary lane restrictions and traffic shifts around work areas.

Construction Closures

Four concrete ramps on the west side of the Kessler Boulevard N. Drive bridge are being rehabilitated (over 38th Street and I-65). The ramps will be closed until early September. See detours here.

Oliver Avenue between White River Parkway West Drive and Kentucky Avenue will be closed through November 2019 for bridge reconstruction.

The Fall Creek Parkway/Central Avenue bridge is set to reopen by the end of July.
